Paul Lichtefeld Sr.

President

Paul A. Lichtefeld, Sr., a Louisville native, leads Lichtefeld Inc., a Design/Build contracting firm with a long-standing family legacy dating back to 1918. Over his 40+ years, he has expanded the business, completing over $100 million in contracts and developing millions of square feet in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Through Lichtefeld Properties, he also manages a significant portfolio of retail, office, and warehouse spaces. The firm is located at the Breckinridge Tech Center, with notable projects like the historically registered Theatre Building in downtown Louisville.

Paul Lichtefeld Jr.

Vice President

Paul A. Lichtefeld, Jr., Vice President of Construction at Lichtefeld, Inc., leverages his corporate experience to drive sales, manage projects, and oversee marketing and construction for the family business. Since joining in 1995, he has significantly expanded company sales and is the primary representative for Butler Manufacturing Building Systems. Paul Jr. has earned recognition from Butler with the Falcon Club award and is an active community member, supporting the Boy Scouts of America.

Stanley H. Lichtefeld

Secretary/Treasurer

Stanley Lichtefeld, Secretary/Treasurer of Lichtefeld, Inc., brings a background in management, real estate, and project management to his role. After earning his degree and gaining construction experience with Lichtefeld Properties, he co-founded Childcare America, Inc., growing it significantly before fully dedicating himself to the family’s construction company in 1996. Stanley oversees administration, sales, and project management, supporting the company’s continued success in commercial design and construction.

Mark Lichtefeld

VP Operations Project Management

Mark E. Lichtefeld, Lead Project Manager at Lichtefeld, Inc., joined the family business right after earning his B.S. in Construction Technology in 1995. With a background in project management, estimating, drafting, design, and sales, Mark brings a modern approach to the company’s construction technology. An avid adventurer, he enjoys outdoor sports and actively supports local charities, including the Boy Scouts of America and the American Diabetes Association.

Stanley F. Lichtefeld

President 1945-1970

Stanley F. Lichtefeld joined the family’s construction business in the 1930s after a brief stint with Armor Meat and Packing. Initially handling bookkeeping and office management, he worked alongside his father, Fred, to rebuild the company’s reputation in residential construction. During WWII, Stanley was drafted but was honorably discharged when his father’s health declined, allowing him to continue the family business. In the 1940s, he shifted to field management while Fred focused on office duties, ultimately leading the company until his retirement in 1970.

Fred J. Lichtefeld

President 1918-1944

Fred J. Lichtefeld began as a carpenter apprentice in 1910 before partnering with Fred Metzner to form Lichtefeld Metzner & Company in 1918, focusing on custom home building in Louisville. The firm became renowned for upscale homes in areas like Glenview and River Road, with projects including the notable Will S. Speed residence. Fred managed field operations and sales, while Metzner handled office responsibilities. After Fred’s sudden passing in 1948, his legacy continued through the family business.

John Lichtefeld

Superintendant 1918-1925

John Lichtefeld, father of Fred Lichtefeld, initially worked as a shift foreman at the Frey Planing Mill Company before joining his son’s new construction business, Lichtefeld Metzner & Company. As the lead foreman, John supervised subcontractors, oversaw project management, and directly engaged in carpentry work. He was remembered as a devoted family man, passing away in 1947 at 89, leaving behind a legacy in both his professional and personal life.
